Our Hearts Go Out to You

Saturday, April 25th, 2009

The Athens theatre community is so close-knit, I’m sure you’ve all been affected by this awful tragedy that struck today. From what I’ve been able to ascertain, the shooting took place at about 12 30pm at the Athens Community Theatre, where Town & Gown usually does their shows. UGA Professor George Zinkhan is the main suspect everyone is talking about at the moment, but that’s about as much as anyone seems to know. The AJC reported the name of one of the deceased, but that’s the only name I’ve been able to find: two others were killed and another three reportedly injured, possibly by ricochets.

For all those affected by this tragedy, we are thinking of you; you have our thoughts and prayers. Please let us know, via comment or email, if you have any thoughts you’d like to share or if you just need someone to talk to. We’re no grief counselors, but we are human, and so we are here for you if you need someone.

God Bless,

Dave

2 April ‘09 - Short Notice Update

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Hello all,

Sorry we’ve not yet got an April update, but we do have some good/exciting news to share. Tomorrow and Saturday (April 3rd and 4th) you can see a production of The Bourgeois Gentleman presented by Classic City Arts (a group new to me, but not to Athens!).

I’m really excited to hear about this show and see a new group in action, so I will (hopefully) be out there tomorrow night at 8pm (same time both nights). Cost is only $8, so it sounds like a pretty good deal.

I’m sorry I don’t have more time to elaborate upon the show, but if you feel you can contribute in any way it would be a great help. I really want AthensTheatre to become a real group effort before I graduate, so it doesn’t fail at the end of next year.

Hope to see you at the show!
